Le
Mans 2007!
For the second consecutive year, a CAV GT was invited
to be the Pace Car for the Motor Racing Legends race
held prior to the Le Mans 24 Hour race. Auto Futura’s
new race car, the CAV GTR, made it’s official debut at
Le Mans as the pace car for this event. It was driven
by Ray Mallock who is no stranger to Le Mans and GT racing.
Auto Futura was proud to have Ray, founder and CEO of
Ray Mallock Limited (RML), a company with two LMP2 class
victories at Le Mans to their credit (2005 & 2006),
pilot the pace car at Le Mans this year. During his racing
career, Ray has been British Formula Atlantic champion
twice, and won nine world championship events in Group
C2. His Company, RML, have also produced BTCC championships
for Vauxhall and Opel, designed and built the Saleen
S7 and have been involved with championship rally cars,
oval track racing and Champcar racing. As enormous range
of racing experience.
After
driving the CAV GTR, Ray had
the following to say:
“As
a regular competitor at Le Mans
in many different cars, I was
delighted to have the opportunity
of driving the CAV GTR as the
pace car at the 2007 Motor Racing
Legends supporting the 24 hour
event. The original GT40 was
developed specifically for Le
Mans so it was a perfect opportunity
for the car to ‘stretch its legs’
on the circuit it was designed
for, and it didn’t disappoint.
The guys at CAV have done a superb
job.”
The smile on Ray’s face said it all! And when someone
of Ray's calibre and experience has that to say about
the CAV GTR, we know we've got it right!
